LYNN KNOPE, PSYD
she/her
Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Knope has over 40 years of experience working with children and families. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education, an M.S. in Special Education and a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology.
Dr. Knope has developed her treatment protocol based on her combined experience as a classroom teacher, school counselor, as a therapist and trainer, and as an athlete/coach. She has served as a preschool director, a mental health consultant for Head Start and in DayCare settings, as a coordinator and trainer at The Dougy Center for Grieving Children/Families, as director of Children Made Visible, a Support Program for Children of the Incarcerated, and most recently as clinical director of Skyhook Counseling Center. She has been in private practice since having been licensed as a clinical psychologist.
Therapy is designed to consider each client’s developmental trajectory, the diversity of their neurobiology, their history and all the resultant emotional challenges that accompany these complex components of an individual’s life. Combining aspects of the physical body with the emotional self has been left out of most traditional treatment modalities and protocols. The goal of treatment from this perspective is to activate the human brain through movement, which in turn has the potential of accessing and integrating the emotional self, creating greater cohesion.
Dr. Knope’s private practice is located in Tigard where she provides treatment to individuals of all ages, and with couples and families. She specializes in seeing clients with issues related to: grief and loss, neurodiverse challenges (including ADHD, and Sensory Processing Disorder), attachment, parenting, depression, anxiety, and behavioral challenges.
When not working, Lynn enjoys quilting, traveling, walking with friends, gardening, playing with her two ragdoll cats, and learning to play pickleball!
